Assign Role (Permission) on Oracle EBS R12
In Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) R12.3, you can create roles using the "Role Maintenance" form. Roles are used to define responsibilities and access privileges for users in the system. Here's a step-by-step guide to creating roles in Oracle EBS R12.3:
Step 1: Navigate to the Role Maintenance Form
Log in to Oracle EBS R12.3 with appropriate user credentials.
Navigate to the System Administrator responsibility (typically named "System Administrator").
Under the "Security" tab, select "Responsibility" and then click on "Define."
Step 2: Create a New Role
In the "Roles" form, click on the "Create" button (or use the menu path File > New) to create a new role.
Step 3: Enter Role Information
In the "Role" field, enter a unique name for the role you want to create.
In the "Description" field, provide a meaningful description of the role.
Step 4: Assign Responsibilities to the Role
Go to the "Responsibility" tab to assign relevant Oracle responsibilities to the role. You can search for responsibilities based on their names or descriptions and add them to the role.
Use the "Add" button to search for responsibilities and then click "Select" to add them to the role.
Step 5: Define Data Access (Optional)
If required, go to the "Data Access" tab to set up data access privileges for the role. This step is applicable if you want to restrict the data visible to users assigned to the role.
Define the data access rules based on criteria such as organizations, operating units, or other attributes.
Step 6: Review and Save the Role
Review all the information entered for the role to ensure it is accurate and complete.
Click on the "Save" button to save the role.
Step 7: Assign Users to the Role (Optional)
Once the role is created successfully, you can assign users to the role. This step is essential for users to access the responsibilities and data allowed by the role.
In the "Roles" form, go to the "Users" tab and add the relevant users by entering their usernames.
Step 8: Test the Role
After creating the role and assigning users (if applicable), test the role by logging in as a user assigned to the role and verifying that the responsibilities and data access are working as intended.
